Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process of starting therapy?
For the most part, starting therapy will be a four step process:
Intake call: We have a brief, 10-15 minute phone call so we can both get a good sense of whether I will be a good match for you or your child. If you or your child and I do seem like a good fit, we can move along to steps 2 and 3
Background forms: I will ask you to complete some background forms and assessments.
Intake assessment: The first time we meet, my major goal will be to get to know all about your current psychological challenges. I will probably ask a bunch of questions about you or your child’s main reason for seeking out therapy, but I will also ask many other background questions and questions about other aspects of mental health.
Therapy: After the intake assessment, I will generally schedule weekly 50- to 55-minute therapy sessions. My goal is for you to reach your goals in therapy over the course of roughly 2-12 months. This can range quite a bit depending on your goals and presenting problems.
Another option I currently offer is an intensive course of therapy for people with OCD and anxiety disorders, which includes more frequent sessions for a short period of time (typically, daily sessions for three weeks).
What should I do if I am interested in getting started with therapy?
Please send me an email at andrew@guzickpsychology.com so we can set up an initial call.
Do you take my insurance? How much do you charge?
I am currently out of network with all insurance providers and will provide you with a bill you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please reach out to learn more about my current rate.
It is important to ask your insurance about your out-of-network coverage before you begin sessions. Some important questions to may want to ask them are:
“What are my out-of-network benefits for seeing a licensed psychologist for outpatient care?”
*important codes to ask about are initial diagnostic evaluation (CPT 90791), individual 45-50 minute therapy sessions (CPT 90834), individual 55-60 minute sessions (CPT 90837), and for parents seeking out care for their child who might be interested in parent coaching sessions, family therapy without patient present (90846)
“What percentage of the cost is covered?”
“Do I have a deductible for mental health services, and if so, how much?”
“Is there a limit on the number of sessions I can have per year?”
“How can I submit a claim?”

What ages do you see?
I see clients of all ages.

Please also take a look at my pages on my approach to therapy for more information.

As a psychologist I do not prescribe medications. I am happy to collaborate with clients' medication prescribers or help make recommendations for referrals.
